The award has been set up by Mrs J E Clad whose daughter, Laura, was a student at the University until her accidental death in 1971.
The object of the scholarship is to help an outstanding student of environmental studies or related courses who shows potential to contribute to the preservation of ecology and the environment. Laura J Clad Memorial Scholarship
Degree Level: The scholarship shall be open to students in the College of Science
undertaking a thesis for the degree of M.Sc. or Ph.D.
Available Subjects: Scholarship is open for environmental studies or related subjects.
Scholarship Benefits: The current value of the scholarship shall be $2,400 per annum.

Eligible Nationalities: Student who is currently enrolled in the university and may have any nationality is eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria:
The scholarship shall be awarded by the Council of the University upon the recommendation of the Dean of Science, which may, at its discretion, consider the academic merit of, and courses proposed by, the applicants, as well as their financial circumstances.
If, in any year, there are two candidates of equal merit, the scholarship may be shared.
