Specific to Course of Study Section
Positions in this section of this category vary from year to year and are single incumbent positions.
In this section, you will match the primary area of your study as closely as possible to the options provided.
Please read carefully as the areas of studies are reflected to align to our business needs and will differ from descriptions relating to faculties and specialized areas of study.
Positions in this section within this category will be accessed by hiring managers who have an opportunity available for which a student enrolled in a specific/related course of study would gain insight into the work area or discipline.
Specific positions will not be individually posted, as candidates will be screened initially based on related course of study and then how closely they meet the requirements of the opportunity.
If you are interested in potential opportunities which may arise, please complete the application process. It is suggested that you also apply to one of the other summer employment categories, as the opportunities in this category are very limited.
Examples include but are not limited to: By-Law Officers, Landscape Architect Assistants, Historical Interpreters, Museum Collections Assistants, Special Support Case Aides, Engineer positions, general administrative positions.
Administrative Section
Positions in this section of this category perform various clerical duties and a variety of support and administrative functions.
This may include handling general reception duties such as answering routine enquiries from staff and the public, in person, via telephone and e-mail.
Other responsibilities may include word processing (creating correspondence or other documentation), generating computer reports, inputting data, photocopying, sorting mail and filing.
NOTE 1: As some of the positions within both sections of this category require you to drive a City vehicle, you must have a current Class G licence, free of demerit points.
Students holding a Class G1 or Class G2 will not be permitted to drive a City vehicle. If you possess a driver’s licence, please make notation of the class of your driver’s licence on your resume.
NOTE 2: All questions on the job questionnaire must be answered and your updated resume included. Failure to do so will disqualify your summer application.
